The ABCs of Creative Entrepreneurship
What’s a copyright? What’s a contract? What’s a corporation? If you’re a creator, you’re in business . . . whether you like it or not!
Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts (PVLA) invites you to an engaging and informative panel discussion and workshop with some of the best lawyers in Philly, to learn how to protect and grow your work and your brand. Come hear from our volunteer attorneys as they provide presentations, panel discussion and workshops on the following key concepts:
- Artistic Identity: Learn how to protect your brand and your creative work through copyright/trademark protections, licensing, and other intellectual property techniques.
- Business Development: Understand how and why to establish and maintain your own creative enterprise.
- Contract Negotiation: Hear about ways to define and manage your relationships with creative partners, collaborators, stakeholders, and consumers engaged with your business through the use of contracts, including a review of key provisions found in most agreements, how to negotiate, and how to manage a breach of contract
The event will be held on Friday May 1st, 2020 at REC Philly's brand new space in the Fashion District in center city from 9:00 am - 11:00 am. Click the registration link below for more details and to sign up for this event. To check out our speaker profiles, check out PVLA's event page on the PTW20 website.
After the event, be sure to come and visit our booth at Philly Tech Week's Kickoff Event during First Friday in Old City! (see PTW20's Kickoff Event page here for more details). Our staff and volunteers will be there chatting with artists and creatives about the services that PVLA provides to the arts community and the ways to get involved.
Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you on May 1st! For questions, contact PVLA's Director, Ryan Morris, at [email protected]
